The magic of the five Earths
The centre at the most west part of the Cinque Terre (Five Earth), than can be achieved on foot following the most demanding tract of the “Light blue Path” is
Monterosso al Mare
. The town is near hills cultivated with grapes and olives. The vegetation surrounds the centre like an hug; its beautiful sands, the beautiful precipitous rocks and the crystalline waters of the sea make this small town one of the most welcoming at the Ligurian east coast. The medieval tower Aurora shares the ancient small town and the modern one. In the Saint Francesco’s Church you preserve the Crucifixion, given to Van Dyck.
Riomaggiore
is the most oriental of the five Earths, located in the narrow small valley of the rio Maior (covered) that has determined the shape of the village with its course. The building has a urban structure organized according to a series of pedestrian paths, posed long the lines of the earth’s level, allowing the entrance to the high levels of the houses, too. The most ancient ones, at the scheme of the house-tower, develops in height and are posed in parallel schemes.
In the highest part you find the Saint Giovanni Battista’s church, built in 1340 by the Luni’s bishop. In Riomaggiore starts an highly suggestive road, that is the Love Street.
Corniglia

More related to the territory than to the sea, this small centre has a urban shape like the rural groups of the hinterland. The Saint Peter’s parish church is one of the most interesting gothic-rural monuments in the Five Earths, edified in the 1334 on the ruins of a XIth century chapel.
From
Manarola
, starts a particularly suggestive pedestrian street, that is Love Street. The path finishes along the coast, precipitous at the sea, and allows to achieve Manarola with an about 30 minute promenade. Protected by a throat closed between two rocky spurs you find the portico.
As soon as you have achieved
Vernazza
, not lost the Santa Margherita from Antiochia’s church, erected on the sea in the west boundary of the tower; the Doria Castle, rising at the top of the promontory dominating the all town and the bay and taking care of a wide open sea’s tract. Under the castle you find a quadrangular bastion rising in the rocks at the beginning of the portico.
