From Paestum to Pollica
Paestum
Declared Unesco’s estate, it is certainly one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Italy and between the most known in the world. The structural integrity of the three temples, The Basilica, the Atena’s Temple and the Poseidon’s one, testifies the grandiosity of the Greek civilization, the great architectonic skill and the magnificence of the époque works.
The Museum guests interesting ruins, between them the wonderful Dyer Grave.
Agropoli
The name suggests Greek origins. Initially built on a promontory, Agropoli continued to develop an active marinate village in the time. Nowadays it is one of the most important centres in Cilento, with a good port and a very characteristic ancient zone.
Castellabate
Ancient Medieval centre, situated at the top of an hill, it dominates the wide cave from Licosa to Tresino, rich in historical memories and archaeological testifying. The weight of the imposing Castle and the Romanic tower bell of the church are on it. The Abate’s Castle, whose was born the name of the village, was started in 1123 and wanted by Costabile Gentilcore, Abate in Cava. During the summer, the close marine S. Mary’s and S. Marc’s villages make it a lively touristic location.
Pollica
In this small town you must see the Saint Nicola’s Church of the XVIIth century, Patroni Palace, the Saint Peter’s Chapel and the Cross’ newsagent. After a culture bath you must do a bath in the Blu Flag waters of the nearest Acciaroli and Pioppi.
Fichi al cioccolato
The aromatic dry FICHI and covered with melted chocolate are a classic in Cilento. Aromatic, filled with dry fruit and spices or covered with melted chocolate. They are a sweets, really developed in the south, above all during the Christmas time. They can be preserved for long time and can keep their sweet fragrance for many months.
